Dodging
Dodging is a mechanic in Rebirth of the Night which allows avoiding all incoming damage if timed correctly.
Description
By default, ALT is used to dodge. When a player dodges, they will rapidly move in any direction they were previously moving when the dodge key was pressed. On a successful dodge, a trail of particles will appear behind the player.
Mechanics
This will consume 6 energy points (3 feathers) and 0.3 saturation. Dodging requires having at least 6 hunger points (3 drumsticks) and grants the player with 20 ticks (1 entire second) of invulnerability. There is no
Limitations
Players cannot dodge while airborne, how many dodges they can perform in a row depends on the regeneration rate of their energy, which is affected by their armor weight. Most of these restrictions can be countered or lifted by certain effects.
Trivia
- You can extend your dodge by pressing ALT + Spacebar in a short timing, tricking the game into letting you perform dodge and jump. This does not increase invulnerability time.
- The same principle can be applied in water, letting you gain noticable momentum, albeit you have to touch the bottom so your chances of asphyxiation increase dramatically in deeper waters.
- Dodging off elevated surfaces gives you 3x more distance per dodge (And a 10% chance to break your legs!)
- In post nether game stages, there are currently no armor type that lets you dodge often, so for everyday life you may want to look into everyday life oriented armor sets instead of walking day to day in that heavy magical armor.
